Inevitably, though, almost any conversation about this Holderness Coast resort quickly turns to the subject of its beaches. Yes, that plural is correct; there are two award-winning beaches here, separated by the harbour.
Which Bridlington Beach Should Be the Focus of Your Stay?
This might seem a redundant question, given that Bridlington’s two beaches are minutes away from each other. So, during your break here, you can always simply walk between them and enjoy the best of both.
Still, it is worth knowing a few things about the differences between this iconic duo:
North Beach: The Lively Heart of The Action
If you want that authentic “traditional English seaside resort” energy from your Bridlington beach holiday, North Beach is probably the logical one to visit first.
Mixing golden sands and pebbles, this is the busier of Bridlington’s two beaches. It offers truly stunning views towards the dramatic chalk cliffs of Flamborough Head in the distance.
The beautifully restored Edwardian promenade is lined with traditional amusements, fairground rides, and kiosks, and lends itself well to leisurely strolls.
Bridlington’s legendary Land Train also stops near here. So, you might fancy getting on board to whisk yourself and your family to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
South Beach: Peaceful Sands and Promenade Strolls
On the other hand, some people considering a Bridlington break holiday appreciate a slightly slower, calmer vibe. If you’re one of those people, you’ll almost certainly love South Beach.
Located south of the harbour entrance, South Beach offers wide, soft golden sands that are ideal for sandcastle-building, picnics, and relaxed paddling. The Princess Mary Promenade is a lovely spot for a stroll, with chalets, cafes, and toilets close by.
Convenient access is also provided from this promenade to Bridlington Spa, the grand architecture of which is difficult to miss. This renowned venue puts on comedy, music, and other events throughout the year.
But Those Two Aren’t Your Only Options on A Bridlington Beach Break!
Much of the beauty of organising a Bridlington beach holiday, is that you aren’t even “just” limited to North Beach or South Beach during your time here.

Fraisthorpe Beach: Vast, Sandy, And Quiet

Fraisthorpe Beach doesn’t tend to be cited as a “Bridlington beach”. However, it is part of the larger Bridlington Bay, located just a few miles south of the main town.
Easily accessible from the A165 road, Fraisthorpe Beach is a long, flat beach that suits activities like walking, horse riding, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. Dogs are also welcome here right through the year (and our holiday cottages are dog-friendly, too).
Wilsthorpe Beach: Extensive And Great for Dog Walkers
Adjoining Bridlington South Beach and located north of Fraisthorpe, Wilsthorpe Beach makes up another part of the extensive sandy coastline here.
This award-winning beach is known for its long, sandy, flat expanse with grassy dunes. It is, then, another attractive dog-friendly beach in the Bridlington area, lending itself well to walking.
You can access Wilsthorpe Beach via the Bridlington promenade and slipways, with parking available in Bridlington town.
